Trump-Putin Alaska Summit: The much-talked-about meeting of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded in the US state of Alaska. This high-profile meeting was closely watched not only by the US and Russia but also by countries like Europe, Ukraine, and India. Although the meeting was described as "useful," no concrete agreement could be reached on the Russia-Ukraine war. Both leaders claimed that the talks were positive, but no decision came out that would have a direct impact on stopping or reducing the war.

This meeting can also have an impact on India. Recently, Donald Trump has imposed heavy tariff rates of up to 50 percent on some of India's important imports, which are much higher than other Asian countries. In particular, the US has already imposed an additional duty of 25 percent on crude oil being purchased by India from Russia. Experts believe that these tariffs can harm India's exports and put about 1% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) at risk.

Will consult Zelensky and NATO leaders

Donald Trump said after the talks that there has been some progress in the talks, but no concrete solution has been found yet that can be called an agreement. He also said that he will consult Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO leaders to decide the future strategy. However, he did not say how much progress was made on which issues. Later, in an interview given to Sean Hannity of Fox News Channel, he did not make public any specific point of the conversation.

No relief from tariffs for India...

After the meeting, Trump indicated that he has decided to postpone the plan to impose new tariffs on China for buying Russian oil. He said that after the conversation with Putin, he will not have to take this step "for now." However, he did not mention India, while India is already facing a 50 percent tariff. It is being speculated that America has no intention of giving any relief to India at the moment.

Putin praises Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Trump after the talks, saying that the atmosphere of the talks was "friendly" and respectful. He also said that Trump understands Russia's national interests. However, Trump did not publicly comment on Russia's killing of civilians in Ukraine, which is generally strongly criticized by Western countries.

The suspense remained over the results of the talks

Although both the leaders described the meeting as "positive," neither any agreement was announced nor any new or concrete statement came out in the press conference. The entire talks and the subsequent press conference lasted for only 15 minutes, in which general diplomatic talks were made and no major announcement was made. This made it clear that there is still a big gap between the two sides on many issues. Technology reviews

Hinting at a possible trilateral meeting

Trump also said that now he can prepare for a trilateral meeting, which can include himself, Putin, and Ukrainian President Zelensky. However, he did not clarify who will organize this meeting and when it will take place. On the other hand, Putin did not talk about any direct meeting with Zelensky but expressed hope that Ukraine and its allies will take this US-Russia dialogue positively and will not hinder the talks.

No response from Ukraine so far

The meeting took place at a time when the Russia-Ukraine war has been going on for many years, and this was the first face-to-face meeting between a US president and Putin so far. However, so far there has been no official response from the Ukrainian government on this meeting, so it will be interesting to see how Zelensky takes this proposed trilateral dialogue.
